ECOBANK: A REMARKABLE “WORLD SAVING DAY 2018” FOR THE EDGERLEY GIRLS’ COMMUNITY

ECOBANK: A REMARKABLE “WORLD SAVING DAY 2018” FOR THE EDGERLEY GIRLS’ COMMUNITY
The 31st October, 2018 is indeed a memorable day in our dear school, especially for the five blessed students, as the Team Eco Bank, led by Mr. Kingsley Okoi (Calabar Area Manager) pays us a second visit, and this time to mark the World Saving Day and sensitize the students as well as the staff on saving and the need to save.
Mr. Godwin Eton, the resource person, echoed that Eco Bank keeps its promises and considers local content and has therefore adopted our school as one school to be supported in financial literacy. As it could be recalled, the team had visited the school early this year in March to mark the Global Money Week tagged “Money Matters Matter”. Doing a refresher on this, he announced that there would be gifts for as many as would actively participate in and implement the knowledge gained from the sensitization programme. This he said would create awareness for the young people to imbibe a positive saving culture, have a reason to save and to introduce them to the world of digital savings.
How magnificent! Apart from the gifts of Mathematical Sets and Pens given to all participants, five less-privileged students were instant beneficiaries of this visit as Automatic Account with the Eco Bank was opened for each of them on the bases of their academic excellence and zealousness at studies. While Team Eco Bank pledged to pay in the fees as well as clear the outstanding for Henendeme Odohi, God’s-Favour Peter and Precious Adams, our benevolent Principal, Elder (Mrs) Iquo Oboko Oku, promised to open the account at N10,000 each for the other two beneficiaries, Kristine Astra and Marvellous Charles, hopeful that the Old Girls Association shall take up the challenge as part of their investment during the 120th Anniversary of the school come 12th to 18th November, 2018.
The Principal appreciated the goodwill from the Team and reiterated that parents shall hence be encouraged to immediately open savings accounts with the bank especially to facilitate the payment of the wards’ fees. Teachers were equally excited and indicated interest to imbibe the saving culture and to invest with the Eco Bank. We look forward to more rewarding investments from the Team Eco Bank as we flag off our Saving Club here in the school. Of a truth, Edgerley is “God’s own investment”.
